Structured NDIS support,
delivered within the
family home.
What is in-home SIL support?
In-home SIL (Supported Independent Living) is a professionally governed NDIS support arrangement delivered within a participant's own or family home. Unlike general in-home care, it includes structured daily living assistance, defined provider accountability, clinical oversight, and goal-based care planning coordinated by a registered NDIS provider.
There is a meaningful difference between casual in-home support and a professionally governed SIL structure. MMT Care delivers family-home SIL with the consistency, documentation and clinical governance that participants, families and support coordinators can rely on.

Understanding In-Home SIL
What is family-home SIL support?
Family-home SIL support is a structured NDIS support arrangement where a registered provider governs and coordinates ongoing supports within the participant's own home or the home of a family member. It is distinct from casual in-home support in that it carries formal provider accountability, documented care planning, and consistent team-based delivery.
According to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, providers delivering SIL supports must meet specific practice standards — including behaviour support, incident management, and participant rights obligations — that do not apply to informal or unregistered in-home arrangements.
At MMT Care, we work alongside families — not in place of them. Our role is to add structure, safety and professional governance to the support environment, so the participant can remain in the comfort of home while receiving the level of support their goals and needs require.
What structured support includes
Personal care assistance
Showering, dressing, grooming and hygiene support — provided with dignity as a core daily component.
Medication management
Structured medication support, administration assistance and clinical handover — within provider-governed protocols.
Clinical & nursing oversight
Access to clinical leadership and nursing review where the participant's needs require it — not available in standard in-home support.
Overnight support
Active or passive overnight support available where assessed — a significant feature distinguishing SIL from community care.
Structured care planning
Documented routines, goal-based plans and accountability reporting — aligned with NDIS Practice Standards.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about in-home SIL support
In-home SIL support (Supported Independent Living) is a professionally governed NDIS support arrangement delivered within a participant's own home or family home. General in-home support typically involves flexible assistance with daily tasks and may use independent workers with limited oversight. SIL is a structured, accountable arrangement governed by a registered NDIS provider — with documented care planning, consistent support teams, clinical oversight where required, and defined operational responsibilities aligned with NDIS Practice Standards.
Yes. SIL support can be delivered within a participant's family home. MMT Care coordinates structured support — including personal care, daily living assistance, medication support and overnight support if required — while working alongside the family, not replacing their role. The family remains central to the participant's life throughout.
Community Participation supports focus on social access, community activities and skill-building outside the home. In-home SIL focuses on daily living, personal care, structured routines and independent living skills within the participant's home. Both can be included in an NDIS plan and complement each other — but they serve different goals and are funded differently.
Yes — in-home SIL is highly suitable for hospital-to-home transitions. MMT Care can arrange urgent in-home SIL placements within 24–72 hours, coordinating clinical handover directly with hospital discharge teams. See our Hospital to Home Transition service for more detail.
In-home SIL is funded under Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life in an NDIS plan. SIL funding requires a Supported Independent Living Proposal (SILP) prepared by the registered provider and submitted to the NDIA. Your Support Coordinator or LAC can help facilitate this process during your plan review.
